What is MITAC?
The purpose of the Maryland Instructional Technology Advisory Council is to provide the Maryland State Department of Education advice from multiple perspectives on technology decisions and future directions aligned to the five objectives of
Maryland Educational Technology Plan for the New Millennium: 2007-2012
(student learning, professional development, administrative productivity and efficiency, universal access, research and evaluation).
To that end, MITAC makes recommendations to the Office of Instructional Technology and School Library Media and the State Superintendent of Schools regarding issues, initiatives, policies and procedures related to instructional technology to improve and to support teaching and learning.
Each year, MITAC prepares an end-of-year report, prepared by the Planning Committee and reviewed by the entire Advisory Council. The co-chairs then share the report with MSDE, including the Assistant State Superintendent for Instruction and the State Superintendent of Schools. The report includes but is not limited to
a summary of Advisory Council activities; a
Statement on accomplishments; and
